In era of global terrorism, one of the main problems facing security forces has been the inability to detect homemade bombs. These homemade explosives are very difficult to detect as they are made up of a colorless material that resembles to sugar and contain no nitro groups. The biggest problem is that these explosives can be made from easily available materials.

This inability of peacekeeping forces to detect these lethal explosives has accounted for several lives. Tel-Aviv based company Acro claims at construction of a peroxide-based explosives tester, which can quickly and positively identify TATP explosives. The device named ACRO-PET is a pen shaped disposable device that is very handy to use.

The device is yet to be evaluated and approved by the Department of Homeland Security and other law enforcement agencies in the US and in Europe. If successfully tested this device will be a strong tool to fight global terrorism and will be able to save a number of lives in future.
