The FN F2000 is an assault rifle that did not got the fame of AK-47 or the M16 but slowly and steadily has been building its own niche in the weapons market.
Recently Slovenia ordered a large number of guns for its troops. This rifle is being manufactured by Fabrique Nationle de Herstal.
A Belgium product the rifle weighs 3.6 kgs when empty and 4.6 kgs with the grenade launcher. The F2000 platform has a bayonet lug mounted near the muzzle with the adjustable gas regulator with two settings just in case the troop is using the non-standard Ammo.
The gun uses the standard ammo of NATO i.e.5.56mm.
The bullets shells find their way out from the front of the gun and the gun has the range of 500m. It can fire 850 rounds / minute.
The latest government showing interest in this gun is Norwegian government and it is expected that they will complete their assessment by the end of this year.
