The Sandia National Laboratories researchers have developed a more sophisticated sensor — a detection system - that can not only minimize the existing commercially available sensors’ cost, but also power consumption as well!
This new sensor system is completed with onboard GPS, compass, local and long haul radios. It is also solidified with digital signal processor and video capabilities. But, disappointingly, it is significantly larger compared to the off-the-shelf sensors. It is also not currently available for mass production.
