This supersonic shape-shifting bomber is a dream come true for the U.S. military that were looking forward to keep an eye on enemy territory for a long time and unleash attack with supersonic speeds.
The unmanned Switchblade, a shape-changing plane concept under development by Northrop Grumman, equips special 200-foot-long wings that automatically turn oblique to maximize aerodynamic efficiency at supersonic speeds. The Switchblade will be ready to attack by end of 2020 and can maintain subsonic-speeds for at least 15 hours and cruise at Mach 2 at a maximum altitude of 60,000 feet.
