As technology is getting better day by day, modern armaments are becoming even more deadly and lethal and hardly provide a chance to the opponents or enemies. DREAD gun is one of the similar weapons that spill out 120,000 rounds of .308 and .50 caliber round metal bullets at 8000 feet per second (ft/s) and unbelievably just in one lone minute.

Outwardly the gun looks like a flying saucer or some alien airborne machine, but the deadly gun rotates in a 360-degree angle and barely gives an opportunity to evade the fatal blow.

The efficacy of the weapon lies in the fact that you may use it in exceptional places, as it include no recoil and simply employs electrical energy for spinning its projectiles, instead of conventional gunpowder. Other major specks of the DREAD gun are:

• 40 inches long, 32 inches wide and 3 inches tall
• only 30 component parts
• weights just 28 pounds (when empty)
• no muzzle flash
• centrifuge-powered weapon

There isn’t much information exactly when the electrically-powered gun be available for different forces, but when it comes to the fore; one thing is for sure that your enemies will give one more thought before facing the lethal DREAD. Check the video out to see the DREAD weapon in motion:

This tanks design was aimed at the idea to allow a tank to glide into a battlefield after being towed aloft by an airplane. Oleg Konstantinovich Antonov prepared the design in 1940 for the Soviet Union to fight against the German army.

This design features a Soviet T-60 light tank fitted with cheap wood and fabric wings. This amazing design was workable and the tank plane could glide into fields behind enemy lines and could release the tank at the desired location.

Sergei Anokin tested it and the design was successful technically, but the tank never came into mass production, as the T-60 tank could not be equipped with much armor in order to make it glide and was not a very effective tank that could withstand the heavy German tanks.

This seems to be a science fiction but actually, it is a fully functional electromagnetic pistol that fires a steel projectile. The gun combines various components to make you aim like professionals. It has a PIC microcontroller that controls the functions. Two coils are precisely pulsed in sequence (350 Amp peak) to fire a steel projectile. Two infrared sensors detect the projectile
position within the firing tube. The gun is powered by 8 AA NiCd battery pack that can be charged from an in-built charger. A bar display tracks capacitor bank charge progress and a LED indicator can always remind you of any fault with the battery.

The cool factor of this gun is that you can aim a target perfectly with its laser sight and shoot without causing any sound.

UDRI is home to one of the leading ballistics labs in the United States. University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI) is now working on a lightweight composite armor based on nanotechnology that will be used as an armor package for Humvees and armored vehicles. Armor Holdings and TPI Composites are also involved in the project

The U.S. army has funded the contract and has awarded $15 million to URDI. The UDRI engineer Brian Rice is working with two other companies to create a product that is to be used. These new weapons developed will be stronger and lighter as well. The research may also provide with technology to develop protective materials for police and firefighters.

To guard the coastal areas of the nation and all over the world, the U.S. Navy is planning to build a second General Dynamics trimaran version of Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) that is based on an established Austal high-speed trimaran hull, and has granted funds for the project.

Supporting mine detection/elimination, anti-submarine warfare and anti-surface warfare against small surface craft, the 127-meter surface fighter LCS will be fast and highly maneuverable, and feature a modern, high-speed trimaran hull as well.

For the first time the large flight deck of the LCS will be positioned high above the water level. Allowing near-simultaneous operation of two SH-60 helicopters or multiple unmanned vehicles, the deck of the LCS will be suitable for landing the much-larger helicopters, such as H-53 and the steady trimaran hull will make the flight operations possible even in high sea conditions.

Ensuring the capability to accomplish one mission following the next, the Littoral Combat Ship will emerge as one of the major functional payload capacity per ton of ship disarticulation of the U.S. Navy.

Researchers at MIT are always in a hurry to develop some of the best technology in the world.

Now they have come up with a device that can detect the presence of Land Mines and can also tell the country which manufactured them.

They have developed a device that uses a powerful and focuses beam of high frequency sound waves that can penetrate under the ground. When the sound beam comes in contact with a mine or some other things that are buried, the collision causes some vibration under the ground, which pushes the dirt around the area.

According to the researchers the mines vibrate in a different fashion than the rest of the things that are buried underground and the device can also detect the manufacturers of the mines by their unique signatures.

May be the device can also be used to find some hidden treasures too...!

In era of global terrorism, one of the main problems facing security forces has been the inability to detect homemade bombs. These homemade explosives are very difficult to detect as they are made up of a colorless material that resembles to sugar and contain no nitro groups. The biggest problem is that these explosives can be made from easily available materials.

This inability of peacekeeping forces to detect these lethal explosives has accounted for several lives. Tel-Aviv based company Acro claims at construction of a peroxide-based explosives tester, which can quickly and positively identify TATP explosives. The device named ACRO-PET is a pen shaped disposable device that is very handy to use.

The device is yet to be evaluated and approved by the Department of Homeland Security and other law enforcement agencies in the US and in Europe. If successfully tested this device will be a strong tool to fight global terrorism and will be able to save a number of lives in future.

,

America is known to be the most powerful nation with most advanced weapons. It has a good stock of deadly weapons that are just enough to end up this world into ashes. Still some of the American security analysts feel that the nuclear weapon technology of the nation is not credential enough and is deteriorating with their enemies growing stronger so they have expressed a need of a Hypersonic Cruise Missile technology that will be able to travel large distances in few minutes and hit the target giving their enemy no time to escape.

In the Pacific, a nuclear-powered Ohio class submarine surfaces, ready for the president’s command to launch. When the order comes, the sub shoots a 65-ton Trident II ballistic missile into the sky. Within 2 minutes, the missile is traveling at more than 20,000 ft. per second. Up and over the oceans and out of the atmosphere it soars for thousands of miles. At the top of its parabola, hanging in space, the Trident’s four warheads separate and begin their screaming descent down toward the planet. Traveling as fast as 13,000 mph, the warheads are filled with scored tungsten rods with twice the strength of steel. Just above the target, the warheads detonate, showering the area with thousands of rods-each one up to 12 times as destructive as a .50-caliber bullet. Anything within 3000 sq. ft. of this whirling, metallic storm is obliterated.

These kinds of developments mark the possibility of a World War III. I think America should sacrifice their greed to acquire more and more deadly weapons.

Military technologies are simply great and it would not be bad if someone from the civilian family desires them.

Well here is a list of the top 9 military technologies that many of you including me would love to possess.

- The SmartShirt:

This shirt has been developed by Sensatex and can display all your body displays on it. This is basically developed to aid the soldiers so that they can check their blood pressure, body temperature and some other vital facts about their body.

Most of us will also desire this as it can keep track of our heart beat and our blood pressure when we our busy exercising on the tread mill and can also warn the long-haul truck drivers about dangerous fatigue levels.

- Powered Exoskeleton:

These exoskeletons are made to give some machine like qualities to normal humans. This enables the soldiers to run faster with lots of heavy gear.

The reason the device should be open to common public is because it will make us to follow our kids on a 50-mile bike trip and can also be used to help a neighbor to get a heavy TV on the tenth floor of the building without dropping it.

- Liquid Body Armor:

The technology is again devised to keep our beloved soldiers safe. The US Army has developed a special liquid that behaves like water under normal circumstances but it hardens on impact. When used along with some traditional protective wear such as Kevlar it can provide effective protection against stabbing weapons.

The technology can also protect the cops who are endangering their own lives everyday and also can be a boon for the prison guards.

- Micro Spy Plane:

Spy planes have now been in use for quite some time. But the Wasp Micro Air Vehicle is different. Though this cannot carry missiles to bomb the target area but is no larger than a magazine and cannot be easily spotted. Equipped with two cameras it delivers accurate information about the enemy posts and further can also be controlled by GPS.

The technology can be used by farmers to keep an eye on their herd and can be used by the cops to inspect large crowds for a runaway convict.

- GT Max Mini Helicopter:

Having the same use as the Wasp this helicopter is a bit big. (Or Should I say more than ‘a-bit’...!)

Even though the helicopter is bigger than the Wasp it can still be used by the cops to take care of some bad traffic.

- The Sonic Bandage:

These bandages use concentrated ultrasonic waves and are designed to stop the bleeding of an injured soldier so that he doesn’t run out of precious blood before the medics arrive.

This can be used by the common people in case of an accident in a deserted area where there is no sign of a hospital for miles.

- Gryphon Flying Wings:

These are wings that are worn by paratroopers to get deep inside the enemy territory. They allow the paratroopers to cruise for a distance of up to 40 miles from the drop point. The developers are trying to integrate some turbo jet engines so that they can extend the cruise distance some more miles.

The technology can be used in some kinds of sports where the skydiver has to dive for both distance and accuracy.

- Cornershot:

Soldiers always try to shoot around the corner without injuring themselves and end up firing wildly everywhere. Well this is designed to help some soldiers who are mainly in the line of fire. This special gun has a built in camera and a display that tells you what are you aiming at that too when you are away from the line of fire.

This gun has obvious usage for some cops dealing in some potential ambushes.

- Swiss Military Pen:

Swiss Military has always been known for the gadgets that they possess. Well this is another one. This gadget laden MacGyver knife has no less than twelve tiny tools that can be of use in war.

This is a pretty cool gadget for anyone and can be used for some peaceful purposes as well.

Today’s Astronauts are trained to handle forces up to 9Gs. Comparing it with normal humans we cannot with stand forces more than 3Gs. Well breaking all rules a California based company, Launchpoint Technologies is developing a new technology that will exert a 10,000G force on the payload.

The design looks simple on paper with huge magnetic motors that will accelerate the payload in a circular 1.5-mile radius tunnel until the projectile reaches a speed of 6 miles per hour.

On reaching the critical speed a laser will direct the projectile to the launch ramp and into space. The projectile will only be equipped with a small rocket engine that will guide it to orbit once it is out of the earth’s atmosphere.

The U.S. Air Force is showing some interest in the idea and has granted the company a $500,000 capital to prove the idea. Launchpoint Technologies believes that the launch will cost under $50,000 and will be beneficial to provide food and other supplies to the astronauts.

The company also commented that anything that can handle the intense 10,000 G force can be shot into space with the technology that the company aims to fully develop in the next four years.
