US Army has developed a great number of non-lethal weapons to combat civil revolts. Now the latest development is a 7.5 million candlepower strobe floodlight system that temporarily paralyzes all its human targets. The device will be mounted on an unmanned air vehicle as a non-lethal crowd control system. The system uses a xenon-based searchlight that can be pulsed with a unique modulation effect that results in immobilization to those within the beam. The device looks great to control a mob, but I hope it does not have any long term effects…! Via: wired

Military Develops Non-Lethal weapon dubbed Ray Gun.
The military has developed a new Non-Lethal weapon called the Ray Gun. This new weapon uses high energy waves that makes the target feel that he is about to catch fire and he drops his weapons. According to some military officials the use of such weapons can save the lives of hundreds of innocent people in places like Iraq and Afghanistan. Though the weapon is not expected to go into production till 2010, but still the officials gave a demo of the project. They fired beams from a large dish antenna that was mounted atop a Humvee at people who were enacting as terrorists. The range of the gun is claimed to be more than 500 yards that is seventeen times more than the range of other non-lethal weapons such as rubber bullets. The beam gives a sudden burst of heat to the target that is about 130-degree Fahrenheit. This heat makes the target think that his clothes are about to catch fire. The gun relies on the use of millimeter waves that can penetrate just 1/64th of an inch of human skin. This is enough to cause pain and discomfort to the target. These millimeter waves are even less harmful than the in kitchen Microwave’s, radiation from which can penetrate several inches of the human skin. The beams can also pass through all the clothing material. But if you are creative enough and have developed some concrete and glass clothes then you can say that you are safe
US armed forces develop a weapon that fires pain
Non-lethal weapons have been gaining more attention lately. Now, U.S. armed forces have envisioned the future of heat-beaming weapons with their new weapon that has the capability to fire a beam of sweltering pain. ‘Less carnage and more pain’ could be the future of combat since the beam generated by this new weapon penetrates one-sixty-fourth of an inch into the body thereby heating the skin like microwaves. Anyhow, it doesn’t harm anyone in actual because the feeling is just an illusion. The ludicrously dubbed FN303 less lethal launcher is designed to fire non-lethal projectiles at established non-lethal ranges. Two weeks from the day, military leaders will assemble in London to discuss the pain beam and the next cohort of directed-energy weapons
